Red Trail Energy and Puro.earth Announce Largest Carbon Credit Issuance

Red Trail Energy has just become the first ethanol plant to generate carbon credits on the voluntary market. Puro.earth announced the 157,592 CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs) on their Puro Registry, marking the largest credit issuance to date.

The credits adhere to the Puro Standard for Geologically Stored Carbon (BECCS), which requires CORCs producers to permanently store carbon and stick to strict environmental guidelines.

Red Trail Energy produces bio-ethanol for the transportation sector. Instead of venting waste CO2 into the atmosphere, Red Trail injected it underground in a class VI well near their project in Richardton, North Dakota.
