PJM utilities and data centers are challenging filings at FERC that would affect large load interconnections.
A few weeks ago, PJM’s market monitor filed a complaint urging FERC to rule that large data centers can only come online if PJM hits certain reliability standards.
But the Data Center Coalition and the The PJM Power Providers (P3) Group are now pushing for the complaint to be dismissed, claiming this will only add even more uncertainty and roadblocks to the queue.
Another motion was filed by Constellation in late November, asking FERC to expedite its pending investigation into PJM’s rules for large loads colocation. PJM is now urging FERC to dismiss this as well.
According to PJM, both of these filings would affect FERC’s ability to first develop large load interconnection standards on a national level (something the DOE has asked for), rather than regional.
