Lithium Americas has just closed a $2.26 billion loan from the U.S. DOE for the Thacker Pass project in Nevada.
The funding was made possible under the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing (ATVM) Loan Program and will be used to help construct the Nevada facility.
Once complete, the plant is expected to produce 40,000 tons of battery-quality lithium carbonate annually.
With an anticipated 1,800 jobs created during construction, this project not only strengthens the domestic supply chain for critical minerals but also aligns with the U.S. government’s efforts to reduce reliance on foreign materials.
