Utility company Entergy is building a $1.2 billion, 100 mile long, 500kV transmission line to power Meta’s data center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana.
The giant Hyperion data center will be built on 2,250 acres and include up to nine buildings. The project is expected to be completed in 2030.
Meanwhile, the transmission line will likely be finished much sooner, by December 2026 according to the 2025 MISO Transmission Plan.
Entergy will also fund additional power generation and transmission in support of the mega data center, including three combined-cycle combustion turbines with a combined capacity of 2,260MW, two substations, six customer-owned substations, and eight new 230kV transmission lines. If approved, these new assets will be available sometime in 2028 or 2029.
