Eion, an enhanced rock weathering startup, has secured a deal to provide Microsoft with 8,000 tons of permanent CO2 removal.
Eion’s patented technology uses olivine, a mineral that absorbs CO2 while also improving soil health. This is part of a broader effort to scale carbon removal through natural processes.
Eion also just announced $3 million in a Series A extension, supported by Growmark, AgFunder, Ridgeline, Trailhead Capital, Overture Partners, Mercator Partners, Exelon Foundation, and others.
This new funding will be used to increase CO2 removal to deliver on contracts and to further R&D efforts.
