Comstock Resources is planning to get into the power generation business, after previously just producing natural gas.
The company is collaborating with NextEra Energy, Inc. to help supply power to growing data centers throughout Texas.
Comstock outputs a large amount of natural gas from its East Texas location in the Haynesville area. The region covers several counties between the two largest metropolitan areas: east of the Greater Houston area and south of Dallas.
Like many states, Texas is seeing a huge influx in data center construction. The region needs a significant increase in power generation in order to keep up with skyrocketing demand.
