Windfall Bio Raises $28M for Methane-Eating Microbes

Windfall Bio has raised $28 million in Series A funding to scale its decarbonization technology, using methane-eating microbes to reduce industrial emissions.

The California-based startup takes advantage of naturally occurring microbes to convert methane into useful agricultural nutrients.

Due to the high warming potential of methane, emissions reductions of the gas could be one of the best near term solutions for reducing global heating.

The funding was led by Prelude Ventures, with additional participation from Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, Global Brain, Incite Ventures, Positive Ventures, B37 Ventures, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Mayfield, and UNTITLED.
