Jua Raises $16M for Climate-Focused AI

Swiss startup Jua has raised $16 million to develop an AI model for better understanding the natural world. Essentially creating a giant physics model, the company is starting with a focus on weather and climate patterns.

This initiative, led by 468 Capital and the Green Generation Fund, could help with forecasting for various sectors including energy, agriculture, and transportation. These are all areas we need to understand better as we tackle the energy transition.

Climate change is increasing the demand for precise modeling. If successful, Jua’s model could be a big help.

According to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, the U.S. experienced 28 weather events costing at least 1 billion dollars in 2023 alone. Predictive AI could help us better prepare for these scenarios.
